I’ve got some people to thank <3

I have some big news!

On February 25, Sparkes Design was awarded “Best New Product” at the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Craft & Gift Wholesale Show! YAY!!! It is seriously such an honour, and I am overflowing with appreciation for everyone who has helped me reach success and attain my goals.

I just wanted to take a minute to send some BIG thanks to some of the people who’ve supported me to make my company as thriving as it is today.

Making Magic since 1972

First off, I need to give a shout-out to the Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador, who do so much for all the artists, craftspeople, and creative businesses across the province. They are the vital link between people like me, the private industry and government, and they offer important guidance on marketing, communications, training….everything necessary to be a professional artist!

Events like the Craft and Gift Wholesale Show are an amazing opportunity for new and emerging business owners to get their work into the hands of customers. Seriously, when I started Sparkes Design, I could not have imagined that my work would now be available at 30 retailers across Canada, but it is these kinds of events that make the magic happen!

The meaningful partnerships made with industry and government at these sorts of events allow our work to flourish and be market-ready, which contribute to this place being the creative hotspot it is. For new artists, craftspeople, and business owners out there: keep your eyes out for next year’s event! You won’t regret it!

Mush Alert...

I have never done this alone, which is why I need to thank the amazing family of artisans who I work with every day. It makes me so honoured to be able to continue their legacy of creating amazing pieces with exotic and semi-precious stones like labradorite. They have been doing this work for NINE generations, and so I am not blind to the fact that I am only one part of a long story. Thank you for inviting me into your world.

And last, but not least, I have to thank YOU, the customers who support our work. It still blows my mind to think that we are in over 30 stores across Canada. It makes me so proud to know that you believe in our mission, and gives me the energy to keep doing what I do.

I am blessed to do this work every day. I get to travel the world far and wide, create meaningful relationships, make inspiring jewelry with raw materials from our planet, and empower women to do the same. I’m pretty lucky.
